Student Questions
Question 1
What age were you when you knew you wanted to be an author?
I can recall saying out-loud at the age of six or seven, that this is what I wanted to be when I grew up. In a testament to how amazing teachers are, this is because my teacher introduced a picture book by first talking about the role of the author and illustrator and how their work came together to create a story. There have been many sidesteps along the way and lots of work that I have enjoyed, but that big dream set in motion all those years ago, eventually became a reality.

What is your favourite thing about being an author?
I love visiting schools and sharing stories with students of all ages! Equally, I love the power of a blank page - a new idea, ready to start taking shape.

What advice would you give new authors?
While the journey toward being published can be a long one, it is one of the most exciting and interesting adventures too. Resilience is important for authors, so is having fun and finding joy in your work.
